The update will have a focus on computing in the curriculum across all phases. How can governors and trustees support their school to deliver the computing education which will be so vital for young people’s future? Getting the right training and support for staff to teach digital skills is vital and the board has a key role to play.
The National Centre for Computing Education (NCCE) offers expert advice and training for primary and secondary schools across England, and works closely with governors and trustees.
During the session a Computing Subject Matter Expert and a member of your local Computing Hub will discuss what governors can do to help their schools access all the NCCE support available and what to look for to identify how computing education at your school meets the expectations set by the National Curriculum and Ofsted. The NCCE’s new handbook for boards, ‘Improving your School’s Computing Offer’’, details how it can help school leadership teams to develop their computing provision.
A wide variety of Babcock advisors provide support for these sessions, allowing governors to hear from individual experts in their educational field. All sessions are presented through the governance prism, providing the bespoke information to those who are responsible for strategic leadership in schools. Governors are signposted to the latest developments so that they can return to their boards updated for the current term.
These sessions are appropriate for all governors, of any experience, in all settings.
