The Communication and Interaction Team (C&I) are delivering a workshop designed for school staff to develop their knowledge of and skills in supporting girls with autism, both pre- and post- diagnosis.
Audience:SENCos, INCOs, teachers with specific responsibility.  All key stages.

This is a half day workshop and will cover the following topics:

  • Why has there traditionally been such a pronounced (1:4) gender difference in diagnosis rates?
  • Key areas of difference in relation to girls with autism
  • Pre-diagnosis indicators
  • Key strategies in relation to both universal and targeted approaches
  • Working with parents
  • Useful resources and links

The workshop is interactive and focussed on positive outcomes for pupils. A key outcome will be for delegates to develop a ‘provision checklist’, which can be applied to their setting in practical terms.
The course also offers the opportunity for professional networking and sharing of good practise.

The AET is government funded and the preferred provider of Autism training across England.

Training Objectives

  • Develop skills and knowledge so that you can support their organisation to develop outstanding provision for this cohort and their families
  • Help you to question, evaluate and develop autism practice within your setting
  • Provide you with the tools to audit current provision and identify areas for development and training needs
